Potato is a vegetable, which is rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants which is very beneficial for our health. It is one kind of root vegetable which is eaten by most of the country in the world. Because it contains so much starch, many people think we should eat less of it. Potatoes are easy to produce, low cost, and used in many dishes to make many delicious dishes. Different types of healthy foods are made by potatoes, as well as, unhealthy food like fried made by potatoes.

Potatoes’ scientific name is Solanum tuberosum. As tomatoes and potatoes are one of a kind, potato plants and fruits like tomatoes contain the toxin solanine, which is harmful to the human body. Potatoes have varied according to color, size & shape. At present, there are 5,000 varieties of potatoes such as Agata, Almond, Amandine, Anya, Bamberg, etc.

Potatoes Production: 

Now potatoes are cultivated in more than 160 countries in the world.  South Asian countries like Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and China produce the most potatoes. Not only these countries, but also Russia, Ukraine, United States, Germany also produce huge potatoes. As of 2014, Potato is the fourth largest food in the world. Based on Food and Agriculture Organization Corporate Statistical Database, in 2016, the total potato production was 376,826,967 metric tons. In 2018, 38 million tons were produced worldwide, where China alone produces 27% of the total, and in 2019, their total production was 423 mln tonnes.

Potatoes production Process: 

Potatoes are produced from seeds potatoes. Actually, it is a piece of potato that germinates. When potatoes are stored, different parts of the potatoes germinate. After that the germinated parts are cut, these are the potato seeds.  It has to be planted under the ground. In places where there is sunlight, loosen the soil and plant the potato seeds. After that, you have to take care of them, and in 80-100 days you can get potatoes from them.

It also helps to make stronger your immunity system. Potatoes are gluten-free, so you can use them in your diet. 

Potatoes is not only healthy, it’s also can be unhealthy by their preparation process. Sometimes it's used for making some fast food, which is basically unhealthy food.
